The cosmetic secrets of your favourite brands will make you look younger in the future.
So how do you keep up with your cosmetics addiction without spending $300+ on your first purchase?
If you’re a beauty junkie, the answer is simple.
Find a makeup palette and a brush.
But there’s more to it than just the cosmetics.
The first step is to figure out what you’re looking for in a palette.
For me, I’m a makeup junkie who likes to use a combination of lipsticks, bronzer, and eyeshadows.
This makes it easy to keep track of the makeup brands I like to use.
“I use one palette of all four,” says Natalie, 25, a sales associate at a cosmetics company in Sydney.
“I always go for shades that have a lot of shimmer.
If there’s a shimmery shade, it’s a bit of a break.
But I’ve also used some lipsticks that are more matte, which I think is nice to wear.
And then, if I’m going for a more natural look, I always go with a bronzer that’s a matte finish.”
When I started to buy lipsticks at the age of 11, it was hard to make a decision.
I’d have a bunch of different lipsticks to try and pick, and then I’d buy a couple of each.
As I grew older, I started shopping more online and then bought the same brands in smaller batches.
Natalie loves a matte, soft blush and a cream blush.
“My friends at the gym always buy a lot, but I can’t afford them.
So I’ll just buy a matte blush or a lip stain or a blush.
That’s where I’ve been able to save money on them,” she says.
I know it’s tempting to buy more lipsticks and buy the same shades, but Natalie’s been saving money for years.
In fact, when I asked Natalie if she would consider spending more on cosmetics if she could, she said yes.
“I don’t have any regrets,” she said.
If you want to save some money, you can find a palette that has a high-end brush, which will save you a lot.
But if you want a cheaper, more affordable palette, you’ll need to get creative.
Find a pallet of your choosingYou can find cheaper palettes online that have more high-quality brushes, which may be the key to getting the best bang for your buck.
For Natalie, the beauty brand she’s used the most recently is the MAC Cosmetics range, which she says she’ll never buy again.
“That was the best palette that I’ve ever used.
I bought the palette before I went to MAC Cosme…
I was always a fan of that brand,” she laughs.
A palette with a high end brush will save her from having to pay more.
“It’s the cheapest, and I’ve had my best brushes in MAC for a long time,” Natalie says.
So how do we know the best makeup palettes to buy?
The answer lies in how you want the palette to look.
Some brands are more than just lipsticks.
They offer high-contrast finishes for the lips and cheekbones, and there are also eye shadow shades.
You’ll also want to look for a palette with matte finishes that are not too shimmery, as matte finishes tend to be a bit more matte.
The palette that Natalie and I have is definitely one of the most expensive.
At $200, it is a little pricey, but we’ve found that palettes with matte finish can last forever.
When you do buy a palette, do you pay for it out of pocket?
A lot of makeup brands are free to give away their palettes for free, but you’ll want to get a free sample of the palette if you’re buying one.
Many beauty companies will give away a limited number of palettes free of charge to their customers.
If you buy a free palette, try and get a sample of it so you can compare it to other palettes you may have.
What you can expect from a paletteThe palette will be the focal point of your makeup collection.
Makeup artists can give you options for the highlight, shadow, and eye shadow sections.
You’ll also get shades from the eyeliner, brow, and contour sections.
There are two main sections in a makeup pallet: the lipsticks section and the eye shadow section.
The shade you pick will affect the colour of your eyeshadow.
Each colour will also have a shade of highlight that will help the makeup look natural and blend.
For Natalie, a matte eye shadow is her go-to shade.
“If I was going to buy a new shade, I’d pick a matte shade,” she explains.
Because it has a matte base, it will work
